Two Staffordshire Evangelists

A rare pair of Staffordshire pottery figures depicting the American evangelists Dwight Lyman Moody (1837–1899) and Ira David Sankey (1840–1908).

Moody, a celebrated preacher, and Sankey, his musical partner and gospel singer, became internationally renowned through their highly successful evangelical revival campaigns in America and Britain during the latter part of the 19th century. Their careers were closely intertwined and the figures are therefore particularly appealing as a pair.
